Gifts for Book Lovers Part 2

We’re down to 11 days until Christmas, which means there’s not a lot of time left to purchase gifts and have them shipped to make it in time for the holiday. If you’re still stuck on what to get someone who likes books or you need just one more present, here are some books that are perfect for young adult readers and adults alike and you can find them here at The Reading Chamber:

Anna and the French Kiss

Does the person you’re shopping for love Emily in Paris or other fun rom-coms that take place in Europe? Then this is the book for them! An awkward teen sent to a boarding school in Paris when she doesn’t know any French is incredibly ironic, but makes for a hilarious story. Add that with some found family, a one-bed trope, and a will-they-won’t-they vibe and you have a book that will make you want to put on a beret, grab a crêpe, and hop on the next flight to France.

Kingdom of the Wicked

If the person you’re shopping for loves #booktok and slow burn romances, then this is a great pick. Kingdom of the Wicked is the first in a trilogy and it has a spin-off for those adult readers, but the original is definitely YA boarding on new adult. Emilia and Wrath, a prince of Hell, are fire and ice. Their banter, love-to-hate relationship, and hidden secrets are the backbone of this murder mystery.

What Happens After Midnight

If your reader loves teen movies or shows where the not-so-popular girl tries to have classic high school experiences before they graduate, then they will love this book. Fans of Never Have I Ever and Booksmart, this book adds in an epic scavenger hunt and second chances. This is a really great title if the reader is a high school senior or they’re at a point where they’re trying to figure out their next move in life. It also gives slight Gilmore Girls vibes, which is always a plus.

The Holiday Switch

If your gift recipient binges Hallmark movies this time of year, then The Holiday Switch is something they’ll enjoy! With a cozy inn setting and some forced proximity with a “frustratingly cute” new coworker, the story pretty much writes itself. But adding in a phone switcher-o gives the story some extra depth and heartfelt moments.

Incarnate

For the low-fantasy reader (a.k.a. less world building, but still a fanciful concept), then chances are they haven’t heard of this series! With one of the most unique storylines I’ve ever read, Ana is a new soul in a world where everyone’s been reincarnated (and remembers their lives) for thousands of years. This combines fantasy, coming-of-age, facing your fears, and dragons…that spit acid instead of fire. The limited world building is beautiful and the mystery will keep readers turning pages and devouring the next two books in the trilogy!

Joined at the Joints

There is always a need for more inclusive books, especially in a young adult age, so this is the perfect book for a more socially conscious reader. Featuring chronic illness, you get a deep dive into these character’s every days and what living with a “silent” disability is really like. With a sweet love story and trying to find your voice in the world, this book is relatable and something readers with or without a chronic illness should read.

The Wayward Haunt

Readers who are into more high-fantasy and magic are sure to love this book. It’s eerie, spooky, and downright enticing. And come on, that cover is pretty gorgeous. If your reader loves Tim Burton and shows like Wednesday or Stranger Things, this is has some similar feels while having its own unique plot.
